Eight archers from the No Limits club and the Lothian Disability Sport/No Limits Thursday sessions spent an enjoyable afternoon at the 16th Scottish Archery and Scottish Disability Sport Indoor Archery Shoot at Armadale Academy on Saturday 10th March. The archers were assigned groups for a 9 arrow practice followed by a 9 arrow classification shoot at a distance of 18m - quite a challenge as our groups usually shoot at 10m. This gave them each a score between 0 and 90. They were then grouped into pools depending on that score.
Group A had targets at 18m, group B at 15m and group C at 10m. Within the groups there was a round robin competition of head to head matches with every arrow counting towards the final total within the pool. Throughout the session our archers were assisted by, and coached by members of the Falkirk Company of Archers.
All our archers did well and we finished with an impressive collection of medals, taking two of the three places in the groups they participated in.
Kenneth, Daniel and Charlie competed in group B, the intermediate distance with Charlie winning gold and Daniel the silver medal.
Kirsty, Jennifer, Craig, Alan and Stuart competed in group C, at the shorter range of 10m, with Alan awarded bronze and Stuart earning a gold medal.
Jennifer had a fantastic shot hitting the cross in the centre of the bullseye.
Thanks to Scottish Archery and Scottish Disability Sport for organising the event, which was enjoyed by all our Archers and their supporters. We will build on the skills learned and look forward to the next Shoot.
