Arthur Lawson, from Glenrothes, was our lone entry in the physical difficulties category which had 19 entries .Arthur played very well achieving fourth place and was narrowly beaten by three competitors who play for the British team. Well done Arthur.

medal winnersIn the learning difficulty category there were 22 entries. They were split into four round robin groups and each of our three competitors was in different groups. Kirsty McCallum from Linlithgow won her group winning all of her five games. Andrew Slack, also from Linlithgow, won his group as did Jennifer Stevenson from Fauldhouse. Our three winners were now in the semi finals. Jennifer was drawn against Andrew and Kirsty against the winner of the fourth group. Both Kirsty and Andrew won and fought it out in the final. Kirsty and Andrew know each others’ game as they train together for 3 hours every week. The last major competition they competed in was the English Discibility Sports Championship held in November. This close game resulted in Andrew winning gold and Kirsty the silver. So now they were having a rematch. This time Kirsty got the better of Andrew and won the gold. There was now a game involving Jennifer to decide the third place. Jennifer has just recently taken up the game of Boccia and this was her first competition. To our great delight she won her game and received the bronze medal.

Since then we have attended the Wishaw games. This competition was a knockout. In the learning difficulty category we entered Kirsty, Andrew, Jennifer and also Daniel Strang from Bathgate. All four won their first games and through to the quarter finals. Kirsty and Jennifer won their next game and were now in the semi-final which Jennifer won . Jennifer was now in the final  which was a round robin between three players . Jennifer won two of her games and gained the silver medal position.

For such a small sports group haven’t we done well?

We wish them all good luck in the next competition at Dundee in September, and Sheffield in November.
